    Geoff Piper / Founder & Principal Attorney

    Geoff is the Founder and Principal Attorney of Focus Point Law, P.C., a premium legal practice built to advise technology innovators, media creators and growth-stage companies navigating complex legal terrain. Licensed in California as an attorney, and with over 20 years of experience, Geoff delivers fractional General Counsel services that empower clients to close global transactions, operationalize compliance, scale teams and launch products with confidence and precision.

    Geoff’s practice spans Intellectual Property and portfolio strategy, Artificial Intelligence and governance, privacy, data governance, cybersecurity, SaaS and IT transactions, cloud content management and collaboration, interactive and integrated hardware, open source and the full lifecycle of content creation and distribution. Geoff has supported clients across sectors including enterprise software, AI and robotics, human resource (HR) technology, cybersecurity, industrial design, consumer electronics and Internet of Things (IoT) systems, privacy-focused consumer applications and developer tools, and digital media—serving innovators in music, television, film, advertising, marketing, and the broader entertainment ecosystem.

    Prior to founding Focus Point Law, Geoff served as in-house counsel for leading technology and media organizations including Box, Mozilla, Elo Touch Solutions, Gracenote and the Independent Television Service (ITVS). At Box, he led legal strategy for global partnerships such as those with Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft, and supported the launch of seven new products as the company scaled from single to multi-product. At Mozilla, he spearheaded product legal for Firefox and Firefox OS, and closed foundational deals for WebRTC and Content Services. His legal career also includes training at top law firms and a founding role at Soniq Labs, where he served as CEO, General Counsel, and lead inventor of a wireless mobile recording and distribution platform.

  • Isaac Hager, Of Counsel, legal insight and collaborates on select matters under a consulting arrangement. While not a member of the firm, Isaac contributes to strategic planning, client advisement, and project-specific engagements

    Isaac Hager / Of Counsel

    Isaac Hager serves as Of Counsel to Focus Point Law. Licensed in New York, California, as well as being qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales, he provides legal insight and collaborates on select matters under a consulting arrangement. While not a member of the firm, Isaac contributes to strategic planning, client advisement, and project-specific engagements that benefit from his specialized expertise.

    Before entering private practice in 2021, Isaac held the position of Head of Business & Legal Affairs at Independent Television Service (ITVS) in San Francisco, where he worked for fifteen years. Prior to his time at ITVS, Isaac worked in the Intellectual Property department at Maclay Murray & Spens (merged into Dentons), in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland. Isaac has also taught an undergraduate entertainment law course in the Department of Film & Media at UC Berkeley. His clients include independent film producers and financiers.

    Amar Murugan / Strategic Advisor (Non-Firm Member)

    Amar Murugan serves as a Strategic Advisor to Focus Point Law. Licensed in California, Amar provides legal insight and collaborates on select matters (e.g., startup strategy, entity formation GC services, corporate and M&A, HR, etc.) under a consulting arrangement. While not a member of the firm, Amar contributes to strategic planning and client support on a project-specific basis.

    Amar most recently served as Chief Legal Officer of ACELYRIN, Inc., a biotechnology company, prior to its merger with Alumis, Inc. in May 2025. Prior to joining ACELYRIN, Amar served as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer of Atara Biotherapeutics, Inc. (“Atara”), an allogeneic cell therapy company, from March 2023 to November 2024 and as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, from April 2020 to March 2023. 

    Prior to joining Atara, Amar held several senior legal leadership positions at Assertio Therapeutics, Inc. (“Assertio”), a specialty pharmaceutical company, most recently as Senior Vice President and General Counsel from July 2018 to February 2020, as Vice President, Legal and Deputy General Counsel from March 2016 to June 2018 and as Vice President, Legal Affairs from February 2013 to February 2016. 

    Prior to joining Assertio, Amar was a partner in the law firms of Baker Botts L.L.P. and McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where he represented technology and life sciences companies in connection with public and private financings, mergers and acquisitions and corporate securities matters. Amar holds a B.S. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
